6 photo tips for newbies: REMOVED UNDER WATER
The first. It is necessary to determine the type of camera. For a beginner, more suitable so-called compact cameras in waterproof boxes. You should not risk a more serious technique: unfortunately, cases of flooding cameras due to errors in preparing them for the dive are not uncommon, so it’s worth treading on something that is not so pitiful. However, very simple models, waterproof amphibian cameras, do not make sense: as a rule, they are unsuitable for diving deeper than 15 meters, it is difficult to use external light with them, and the quality of the pictures leaves much to be desired.
Second. For underwater photography, light sources are very important. The fact is that with every dive meter, sunlight and paints under the water dim, therefore it is impossible to use natural lighting. You need a good waterproof flash, and even better two, to evenly illuminate the entire field of the frame. Some underwater photographers use flashlights, but this is more complicated.
Third. Water is far from being as transparent as air — it always contains plankton and another slurry, which makes the pictures “dirty”: the entire field of the frame covers points and spots. To reduce this unpleasant effect to a minimum, you need to get close to the subject as close as possible.
Fourth, although this advice would be worth putting in the first place. An underwater photographer should never forget the safety rules: in the heat of an interesting shoot, it is easy to miss the moment when the air in the tank came to an end. Also, it is impossible, pursuing an object that interests you, to dive unacceptably deep or ascend too quickly. In addition, you need to know which inhabitants of the sea are dangerous, and not to provoke them to attack. And by the way, just lying on the bottom to make it easier to shoot, will not work: stingrays, scorps, sea urchins and other dangerous creatures can hide in the ground.
From the fourth follows the fifth. An underwater photographer needs an assistant or partner who will both insure and track the time and see the danger in time.
Remove a lot
The sixth. Under water is more difficult than on land to assess the quality of the footage. In order not to grieve later that the shooting failed, you need to take a large number of frames, changing the camera angles and settings.
Seventh. An underwater photo is almost impossible to do right away, it needs to be post-processed in one of the editors.
Well, and finally, not advice, but a requirement: take care of the underwater world! Do not behave like vandals: do not break the corals, do not torture underwater inhabitants, do not try to lure them with food that can harm them! Get the joy of communicating with them, staying and realizing yourself as a person!
